AWARE provides free, confidential services for adults and children impacted by domestic violence and/or sexual assault. We also work to raise awareness about these issues and prevent violence in the community.
Emergency Safe Shelter
AWARE provides safe shelter to anyone who has had to leave home or relocate due to domestic violence, sexual assault and/or child abuse. If you have stayed with us before, take the Shelter Survey

24 Hour Crisis Line: 1-800-478-1090
Trained AWARE advocates answer a 24-hour crisis line (586-1090 in Juneau, 1-800-478-1090 toll-free in Alaska) for victims of domestic violence and/or sexual assault. We are also available on-call to accompany women during sexual assault forensic exams and other medical emergencies.
Advocacy Services Provide Support
AWARE advocates have been trained to respond to domestic violence and sexual assault emergencies to provide support and information. An Aware advocate is a person who has been trained to respond to domestic violence and sexual assault emergencies. An advocate’s primary concern is assisting a victim and their children to develop a plan for immediate and long-term safety.

Education & Support Groups
AWARE staff facilitate weekly classes and support groups. You do not need to be a current resident of AWARE to attend. All groups are confidential and free of charge. Childcare is provided. Click here to read more about classes and support groups.
AWARE provides free individual counseling for child victims of sexual assault and/or domestic violence.

Juneau Choice & Accountability Program (JCAP)
AWARE coordinates the Juneau Choice & Accountability Program (JCAP). JCAP is a 26 or 52-week program for male perpetrators of domestic violence or men interested in addressing abusive behaviors in their intimate relationships. Read more or call (907) 523-4942.
Education for Schools and Agencies
AWARE offers educational presentations for local school and agencies. We offer trainings on domestic violence, sexual assault, AWARE services, safe/unsafe touch, and/or other related topics. We will adjust our presentation to fit the audience (children, teens or adults).
