Hourly, Part-Time

AWARE is hiring for a JCAP (Juneau Choice & Accountability Program) Co-Facilitator of Men At Work Curriculum for
men who have abused power and control in intimate partner relationships. AWARE currently offers 2 groups/week, Zoom class on Tuesdays from 4:30-6:30 pm, and Thursdays in person from
1-3 pm. The ideal candidate would be available for both classes, however, this is not essential.

Job Type: Part-time 2-6 hrs/wk; Tuesdays from 4:30-6:30 pm, and Thursdays in person from 1-3 pm
Pay: $25-$30/per hour/DOE

Job Responsibilities

  • Men At Work Facilitators must be able and willing to:
    • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the issue of male violence against women
    • Work directly with men who have used various forms of violence against women
    • Facilitate the New Man & Weekly check-ins, Mid-term & Final review
    • Facilitate exercises including role-plays, readings, and videos
    • Prepare for class and co-facilitation with the lead facilitator

Additional Duties

  • Facilitators must also possess the ability and willingness to:
    • Challenge men to take responsibility for their actions
    • Avoid collision with men in the class
    • Demonstrate comprehension of the Community- Accountability model
    • Become proficient at facilitating the Men At Work curriculum and the class structure

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • The co-facilitator must receive training on the Men At Work, 24-week class, AWARE’s 40-hour victim’s
    advocacy training, and be able to comply with AWARE’s strict confidentiality requirements.
  • College-level study or experience in social work, women’s studies, education, or related field is desirable. High
    school diploma/GED and experience related to this position may be substituted.
  • Must have or be willing to acquire a CPR and First Aid Certificate.

 

Required Skills

  • Must develop strong communication, organizational, and documentation skills.
  • Must have a thorough understanding of domestic violence, sexual assault, and the needs of victims or the willingness to learn.
  • Must have the ability to remain objective and to perform under stressful conditions.
  • Must have the ability to understand and communicate with people of different socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds.
  • Must maintain confidentiality.
  • Must support AWARE’s Philosophy: A commitment to providing options and alternatives to women and child victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.
