New CONNECT Support Group!

In addition to the services that AWARE provides for all survivors, CONNECT is a new support group created by and for people in the LGBTQ+ community who have experienced trauma. This is a free, confidential group that gathers on Wednesdays from 4:00 – 5:30pm

For more information about our LGBTQ+ support services or the CONNECT group, visit our LGBTQ+ Support page!

AWARE Healthy Relationships Group

In the Health Relationships group, we discuss and learn about the foundations of healthy relationships. We develop techniques for boundary setting, assertiveness, realistic goal setting, and decision-making. We increase our understanding of abuse, abusive household dynamics, and dysfunctional family patterns. Additionally, we learn to process emotions in a healthy manner, with a focus on anger, fear, anxiety, guilt, and grief. For more information about our Healthy Relationships group, and to learn how to join, send an email to Saralyn at saralynt@awareak.org or call (907) 586-6623.

This 10-week class will be on Thursday evenings 6-7:30 PM, beginning September 7th and ending November 9th.

I Toowú Klatseen (Strengthen Your Spirit)

I Toowú Klatseen (Strengthen Your Spirit) is a positive youth development program that empowers elementary students, promotes wellness, and strengthens violence prevention protective factors. Participants learn and practice skills to build healthy relationships and create a community of respect for self and others through running, discussions, and cultural activities that honor Southeast Alaska’s traditional values. The program includes twenty 90-minute lessons after school and culminates in a celebratory fun run.

All Genders Welcome!

All survivors are welcome at AWARE no matter who you love or where you fall on the gender spectrum!
