AWARE Rural Outreach Services Include:
- Crisis Intervention
AWARE advocates are always available by phone at 1-800-478-1090. In addition, AWARE’s rural outreach advocate is available for personal meetings when she is in your community.
- Emergency Shelter
AWARE provides safe shelter to women and children who have had to leave home or relocate due to domestic violence and/or sexual assault. AWARE can arrange for you to come to the shelter in Juneau, or to stay for a few days in a confidential safe home in your community. Please call 1-800-478-1090 if you are interested in safe shelter.
- Rural Education & Training Programs
AWARE’s rural outreach advocate can provide trainings for health care providers, law enforcement, and/or educators on domestic violence, sexual assault and child abuse and neglect. In addition, she can provide training for school children in the areas of safe/unsafe touch, bullying, sexual abuse, domestic violence, dating violence, and/or sexual harassment.
